Gary Payton, aka the Glove, got his nickname thanks to his cousin who shouted he was “holding (Kevin) Johnson like a baseball in a glove” during the Western Conference Finals in 1993.

Payton was named to the NBA’s All Defensive First Team for the ninth time in his career. The only player that matched him was Michael Jordan. A true hero being the defensive guard like no other in NBA’s history.
